Designer Spotlight: Alayna

We’re delighted to introduce our new series, Designer Spotlight, giving you a glimpse into the creative minds behind our stunning designs.
First up in our kitchen Designer Spotlight is Alayna. Drawing on seven years of retail design expertise and a background in Interior Architecture, Alayna has spent the last 18 months at Farquhar crafting dream kitchens and living spaces for clients.

What do you love most about working as a kitchen designer?
What I love most about working as a designer is the ability to be creative while positively impacting how people live. I enjoy pushing design boundaries and exploring new ideas, but kitchens hold a particularly special place for me.

Kitchens are the heart of the home, where memories are made, conversations unfold, and everyday life occurs, so creating spaces that are both functional and memorable is incredibly rewarding.

Do you have a favourite design style?
I don’t align myself with a single design style. My appreciation for architecture and the history of design has given me a deep respect for a wide range of styles. I enjoy layering colour, texture, and materiality, often drawing inspiration from travel and the world around me, to create spaces that feel considered, personal, and timeless.

Do you have a favourite Farquhar Kitchens project you have worked on?
During my time at Farquhar, I’ve been fortunate to work on many exciting projects with incredible clients. The most memorable projects are always those where clients are just as excited by bold ideas as I am and trust the design process. That shared enthusiasm allows creativity to thrive and results in spaces that are unique, impactful, and extremely rewarding to deliver.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any passions or hobbies?
Outside of work, I’m rarely far from a renovation project. I am currently undertaking my second personal renovation, which has become a true passion of mine. I’m driven by the process of uncovering a space’s potential: respecting its original bones while thoughtfully reimagining it to give it new life and purpose.
