About Road Raise
Over the past four years the Road Raise event has raised over $650,000. These vital funds have provided more than 16,000 hours of vital support to young people aged 12-25 who are impacted by cancer.
Now in its 5th tour, after a pause due to COVID-19, Road Raise 2021 will see 35 like-minded individuals with a love of cycling, a sense of community and a desire to push their physical boundaries tour some of the most picturesque scenery South Australia has to offer in a bid to raise money for this important cause.
The challenge – 1000 kilometres AND a total climbing elevation over 11,800 metres (the equivalent of riding over Mt Everest AND Mt Kosciuszko) will see the dedicated Road Raise participants challenge themselves physically and mentally as they climb towards their goal to truly make a difference in the lives of young Australians.
The impact – the goal of raising $100,000 from this raffle will go towards providing over 1,333 free counselling sessions to help young people navigate through cancer. At these sessions, young people learn practical ways to move forward and deal with their emotions in a healthy way.

About Canteen
Every year, another 23,000 young people are affected by cancer, whether it’s a close family member’s diagnosis or their own. That’s 63 young people every day.
Just when life should be full of possibilities, cancer crashes into a young person’s world and shatters everything. Canteen is the game changer.
Canteen help young people cope with their own cancer or cancer in their family. Through Canteen, they learn to explore and deal with their feelings about cancer, connect with other young people in the same boat and, if they’ve been diagnosed themselves, we provide specialist, youth-specific treatment teams.
By feeling understood and supported, young people develop resilience and can rebuild the foundations that crumbled beneath them when cancer turned their life upside down. That’s how Canteen is the difference.
Canteen works by having young people at the centre of everything they do. Combined with leading-edge research into the emotional and social impacts of cancer, it ensures that they truly understand how cancer is different in a young person’s world.

About Farquhar
Farquhar and Canteen have partnered together to bring you the Canteen Road Raise – Farquhar Kitchen Raffle, in support of the 2021 Canteen Road Raise ride.
This is the second year Farquhar Group’s Co-Director Mark Farquhar has taken part in the ride – not because he holds any kind of cycling prowess – but because he saw the importance of supporting a cause that has supported his close friends and family that have been affected by childhood cancer.
Farquhar Kitchens is a family owned and operated business. Since 1978, the family have been manufacturing cabinetry for many South Australian families, and currently employ over 220 staff across South Australia and Queensland.
The Farquhar Group’s purpose is to ‘bring family and friends together’ which considers our past and maintains focus on our future goals, and embraces initiatives such as supporting Canteen’s Road Raise.

I have 8 friends riding alongside me (likely in front), including our Farquhar Group Accountant, Rhys Munro, and my great mate Tony Ritson, whose young niece has battled leukemia.
I’m not a rider; I am riding purely for the cause.
The money we raise makes a real difference to the young people and their families who are facing the challenge of cancer.
Two young people from Canteen joined the ride last year; the stories are hard to fathom, emotional, touching and scary. This is the reason I am riding again (it’s not the love of riding).
